Unfortunately Wheathill is now closed, another casualty of increasing Riding centre running costs. These reviews are an archive for information only.

Wheathill is a very friendly riding school and I learned to
ride there and owe the school loads! There is a fantastic sized indoor arena
were all the riding lessons take place. The staff are very qualified and the
livery yard is run very well. There is an outdoor arena for the livery
owners and a cafe.
The horses are very well behaved and a great place to learn! the only down
points is its not the cleanest of yards but to my satafactory! Also the
progress is quite slow. It took me quite a while to go up a level. I was
walking and trotting on my own for about a year on the beginners lesson! I
give the school and livery a four as the yard could be alot cleaner and run
better (lesson progress I'm talking about) Also 'helping' out there what
i do isn't very run and organised properly. You need to work 9-5pm on a
weekend for 2 tokens and 5:30-8pm on a weekday for one token. You need 5
tokens in total for a free hour riding lesson! The reason its not run
properly is there is no real way of them putting your tokens down. The staff
just have to see you to put the tokens down and most of the time you earn
more tokens than they say you have!

Overall though i love riding and helping at wheathill and recommend to anyone.

  Disappointing

My son started his riding lessons at Wheathill last year and
having competed myself at BSJA junior level knew what I wanted from a riding
school. I was extremely disappointed with the level of teaching at
Wheathill, just down to basics such as if you are a beginner how to mount
your pony, important things like holding your reins propertly the list is
endless. I know I'm not the first to share similar views about Wheathill
which is a great shame, I think their indoor arena is very good and cafe
facilities are always useful to have. Could benefit from a seating area for
spectators.
Overall in the right hands this riding school could be really good but just
doesn't give a professional approach to the work they put out!!
